Get your words moving.
Local testing and support guide for Voice37 macOS app. British Made, proudly independent, and engineered for 100% on-device dictation.
Start with the Mac app
- Use an Apple-silicon Mac with macOS 15 or later. Choose a compatible speech model in Get started or Local models.
- Allow Microphone to record. Audio-file import can be used without microphone access.
- Start recording, speak, then stop. English is the default language; choose another explicitly when needed.
- Review your transcript, then Copy or Export. The Direct build can insert into compatible text fields with optional Accessibility access.
Rewrite a selection
- In a disposable TextEdit document, highlight a sentence.
- Press Control + Option + R, say an instruction, then press the shortcut again.
- Review the proposed edit. Choose Replace original selection or Copy edit.
If the selection collapses while switching apps, Voice37 can restore it only when the original field text is unchanged. If the document changed, make a fresh selection and start again.
If two microphones appear
Another dictation app may be listening to a similar shortcut. Check its global shortcut setting. Voice37’s shortcuts can be changed in Settings. Right-side modifier shortcuts in another app can be different from the letter R in Voice37’s shortcut.
If a model is missing
Use Get started or Local models to download compatible data or choose an existing file. Whisper uses GGML .bin files; the writing engine uses compatible Qwen3 GGUF data. MLX files are a different format. Keep external model storage connected.
If history needs recovery
Saving pauses when the original history file cannot be read. Export the original recovery file or choose Preserve backup & reset in History. Audio deletion errors keep the entry so you can retry.
The App Store edition
The Store candidate works within its sandbox. It records, transcribes and rewrites inside Voice37 and copies the result for manual pasting. Cross-app Accessibility insertion belongs to the Direct build.
Reporting a problem & Support
Record the app version, Mac model, macOS version, selected models, and the steps that failed. Use a disposable sample when possible. Share audio or transcripts only if you explicitly choose to; diagnostics should not contain private material by default.
